Facilitator – Children & Parent Programme

About the Role

Vidya & Child works with children and families from low-income and marginalized communities in and around Noida. Through value-integrated education from nursery to higher education, the organization has achieved a dropout rate of less than 5%, gender parity in classrooms, and nurtured over 600 alumni across 21 different careers.

The Children & Parent Programme Facilitator plays a critical role in strengthening child development, family engagement, and educational continuity across the School Programme (Nursery–Class 8) and After School Support Programme (Class 9–12).

Around 70% of the role involves direct child engagement with a focus on socio-emotional learning, life skills, gender equity, and wellbeing, while the remaining time focuses on working with parents and teachers to build consistent support around each child.

Key Responsibilities

Child Engagement (70%)

• Lead one or more classes as a Class Teacher or Group Owner, managing daily routines and the overall learning environment.
• Plan and facilitate Life Skills classes covering socio-emotional learning, communication, values, and decision-making.
• Design and deliver Gender & Sexuality education sessions for students.
• Facilitate teacher training sessions and parent workshops.
• Lead exposure visits, projects, and group activities that develop confidence and critical thinking.
• Maintain child profiles, class records, and engagement trackers.
• Provide one-to-one guidance and counselling support to children facing academic, behavioural, emotional, or socio-economic challenges.
• Monitor attendance and follow-up processes.
• Conduct assemblies, events, and classroom engagement activities.
• Participate in regular child-wise review meetings and action planning.

Parent Engagement

• Conduct regular meetings and home visits with parents and caregivers.
• Build strong parent relationships to support each child’s learning journey.
• Organize Individual PTMs, Group PTMs, Parent Circles, and workshops.
• Facilitate vision-building discussions for children’s long-term educational goals.
• Support families facing educational, wellbeing, or financial challenges.
• Maintain documentation, trackers, and follow-up records.

Teacher Engagement

• Support teachers through classroom coaching and one-to-one mentoring.
• Provide training on Life Skills education and Class Teacher responsibilities.
• Conduct regular review meetings with teachers.
• Contribute to teacher-wise and class-wise review processes.

Programme-Level Responsibilities

• Participate in programme planning and review meetings.
• Coordinate with counsellors, teachers, centre heads, and other stakeholders.
• Promote a culture of empathy, positive reinforcement, and holistic child development.

Must have skills and competencies

• Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience working directly with children and parents.
• Experience conducting Life Skills sessions.
• Experience facilitating Gender & Sexuality education programmes.
• Experience leading exposure visits and child development projects.
• Experience working continuously with families beyond mobilization activities.
• Ability to counsel and support children and parents individually.
• Comfortable engaging with children and adolescents of different age groups.
• Strong commitment to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to create strengths-based reinforcement strategies for children and families.
• Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and digital documentation.
• Excellent communication skills in Hindi and English.

Requirements

• Experience in the education or development sector, preferably working with low-income communities.
• Strong planning and documentation abilities.
• Daily physical presence at assigned centres (Monday–Saturday).
• Some Saturdays may be non-working depending on programme requirements.
• Candidates with NGO or school-based experience will be preferred.
• Candidates residing in Noida or nearby areas are preferred.
