Job Description

Ritinjali is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Director to provide strategic leadership and guide the organisation’s long-term growth and impact. The Director will oversee organisational strategy, programme development, partnerships, fundraising oversight, financial planning, governance, and people management while working closely with the Founder, Board members, donors, and community stakeholders.

The role focuses on strengthening organisational systems, enabling high-performing teams, building sustainable partnerships, and ensuring effective implementation of Ritinjali’s education and livelihood programmes across multiple locations.

This is a full-time, in-office leadership position based in New Delhi, offering an opportunity to shape the future of one of the sector’s impactful nonprofit organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organisational Development

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Ritinjali’s programmes and operations.
  • Translate organisational vision into annual plans, measurable outcomes, and growth strategies.
  • Strengthen organisational systems, MIS, documentation, and accountability frameworks.
  • Lead organisational development and restructuring initiatives.
  • Represent Ritinjali with donors, partners, institutions, and external stakeholders.

Fundraising & Partnerships

  • Provide strategic oversight to the fundraising function.
  • Guide fundraising strategy, proposal reviews, budgets, and donor engagement.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with CSR, institutional, and foundation partners.
  • Represent the organisation in senior-level donor and partnership discussions.

Programme Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight across all education, skilling, entrepreneurship, and community programmes.
  • Review programme performance, outcomes, and impact indicators.
  • Support programme teams in designing beneficiary-focused interventions.
  • Drive continuous programme improvement and innovation.

Human Resource Leadership

  • Guide recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Mentor programme leaders and administrative teams.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and learning-oriented organisational culture.
  • Support performance management and conflict resolution.

Finance & Governance

  • Oversee organisational budgeting, financial planning, and grant utilisation.
  • Review donor financial reports and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with finance teams for audits, reporting, and resource allocation.
  • Support governance through Board reporting and strategic planning.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Guide organisational monitoring, evaluation, and impact measurement.
  • Support development of donor reports, impact stories, and communication materials.
  • Maintain relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, implementation partners, and community stakeholders.

Must have skills and competencies

  • 8–12 years of experience in the social sector, including 3–4 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of CSR, foundation, and institutional fundraising.
  • Experience overseeing fundraising strategy and grant management.
  • Financial planning and budget management skills.
  • Experience managing multi-location programmes and teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders across multiple geographies.
  • Commitment to education, youth development, and social impact.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English.
